Ethical Guidelines
Chemical Industry and Engineering is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behavior, which requires all parties involved in every publishing process to meet the expected ethical standards. We follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)’s guidelines, and set the key expectations for the author, the journal editor and editorial board, the peer reviewer as presented below.
1. Editor's Responsibilities
1) Based on the reviewers' comments and the editorial board's evaluation report, the editor may accept, reject, or request revisions to the manuscript.
2) The editor should not have any conflict of interest with the articles that they reject or accept.
3) The editor must ensure that every manuscript initially undergoes an originality assessment using appropriate software.
4) The editor must ensure that every manuscript accepted by the journal is reviewed for its intellectual content, regardless of the authors' gender, race, religion, or nationality.
2. Author's Responsibilities
1) The author should provide an accurate description of their original research and an objective discussion of its significance. The manuscript should meet the relevant requirements stated in the journal's "Instructions for Authors."
2) The author should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously, nor should they publish manuscripts describing the same research in multiple journals.
3) The author should confirm all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have had an impact on their research work.
4) Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. Anyone who has made a significant contribution must be listed as a co-author. Each author is responsible for the data and arguments mentioned in the paper. Any change in authorship after the initial submission must be approved by all authors and explained to the editor.
3. Reviewer's Responsibilities
1) Reviewers should check whether the author has confirmed all sources of data used in the research. If they find any evidence of plagiarism or multiple submissions, they should immediately inform the editor.
2) The review of the manuscript must be objective and fair, and the reviewer's opinions should be expressed through arguments.
3) Reviewers should have no conflict of interest with the research, the authors, and/or the research funders.
4) Reviewers should point out any relevant published works that have not been cited.
5) If a reviewer feels that they cannot complete the review of the manuscript within the specified time, they must inform the editor so that the manuscript can be sent to other reviewers.
4. Retraction and Correction
1) The editor should consider retracting an article in the following cases: there is clear evidence that the research results are unreliable due to misconduct (such as data fabrication) or honest errors (e.g., misjudgment or experimental errors); the research results have been previously published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification (i.e., duplicate publication); the article constitutes plagiarism; the research reported is unethical.
2) The retraction notice should, if possible, be linked to the retracted article (i.e., all electronic versions); clearly identify the retracted article; and be published promptly to minimize the harmful impact of the misleading publication.
3) The editor should consider issuing a correction in the following cases: a small portion of a reliable publication is proven to be misleading (especially due to honest errors); the author/contributor list is incorrect (i.e., a deserving author is omitted or someone who does not meet the authorship criteria is included).
5. Copyright and Publication License
The copyright of the manuscript belongs to the author, and the author is responsible for the content. This journal has granted permissions to databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, VIP Information, and Chaoxing to reproduce, compile, distribute, and disseminate the full text of this journal in digital form. After publication, the copyright belongs to the editorial office, including the rights to digital, online, and other forms of publication. The author guarantees that they hold the full copyright to this article (including reprinting, translation, image production, microfilming, electronic production, and all similar forms of reproduction) and agrees to submit and publish this article in this journal. Once the article is published in this journal, the author agrees to automatically transfer the copyright of the article to the editorial office, including the rights to electronic publication, multimedia publication, online publication, and other forms of publication. The act of submitting an article to this journal for publication is considered as agreement to the above statement.
6. Re-use Permission Requests
If the manuscript includes material that belongs to others (e.g., figures), we require the author to obtain all necessary permissions from third parties. Please contact the publisher/copyright owner of the third-party material to understand how they wish to receive permission requests. Please plan to submit your request well in advance of the publication of your material.
7. Similarity Check
Chemical Industry and Engineering will use software to detect overlapping or similar text in submitted or published manuscripts.
